The Kennel Club release app to help owners decide if they’re ready for a new pet
The app provides owners with information on different breeds, basic welfare and wellbeing and other key factors that need to be kept in mind before finding a new pet.
The app also advises on how to go about buy a puppy, with a list of trusted breeders to buy from. It’s hoped the app will prevent the growth of puppy farming, and provide prospective owners with the information they need before buying.

Vet Record launches Vet Record Careers app for iPhone
Vet Record Careers has been developed by BMJ Group to make finding a new job that much easier. Up-to-date information is sent to your iPhone directly, allowing you to quickly search through thousands of positions as they open up.

False pregnancy causes discomfort to both owner and pet. Phantom pregnancy can cause a dog to become more aggressive and possessive, as well as develop a number of physical symptoms such as lactation and swelling.
It’s integral a dog is not spayed until 16 weeks after the end of the oestrus cycle to prevent false pregnancy from developing. This free app lays out exactly when a dog can be spayed and allows monitoring of the condition.

BSAVA members can enjoy access to a free app which contains information on over 450 drugs, as well as all information from within the 7th edition of the BSAVA formulary which contains vital information on a variety of treatments for small animals.

Mobile apps make information a lot more accessible, especially in key moments when there’s no time to reach a computer or leaf through a study. There are an emerging number of mobile apps in the veterinary industry and we hope it continues: there’s no reason vets should be left behind when technology is capable of such great improvements.

Mucky Pups is an iPhone app that has been launched to coincide with Microchipping Month.
