Elisabeth Svendsen Trust merge with The Donkey Sanctuary

10:19 am in Charity, News, UK by Jonathan (Vetsforum Editor)

The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys officially merges with The Donkey Sanctuary

The merge comes in a move to save administrative costs, and because the two charities complement one another so well.

Donkeys assist in therapy for children with additional needs and the elderly, and at the same time the donkeys are looked after and cared for by the people they help.

Three VN students prepare to skydive to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Emma, 20, commented:
“We feel that it will be an amazing experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives, and doing it for such a good cause makes it even more worthwhile.”

The students took part in a sponsored walk for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People but this is their first major fundraiser – and what a fundraiser to start off with. This is an amazing idea and we at Vetsforum wish them the best.

CEVA Backs Fireworks Campaign

10:10 am in Associations, Canine, Companies, Feline, News, Practice Management, Practice Management News, Public Health, State Medicine, UK by Jonathan (Vetsforum Editor)

Owners and vets urged to sign petition to force firework manufacturers to highlight pet safety.

The online petition launched by Dan Syrett has already garnered support from vets, clinics and celebrities including the Wood Green Animal Shelter, the Blue Cross, Nick Freeman and Jilly Johnson. If the petition receives enough signatures it will be brought before the House of Commons.

Fireworks can be traumatic for pets and many owners simply don’t think about the effect fireworks have on their pets before setting them off.

Help make a difference by adding your signature to the petition.
