Too many owners are unwittingly funding puppy farms

Campaigns about puppy farming are raising awareness, but are they doing enough to stop people buying puppies from disreputable retailers with no breeding history? Can vets play a role in preventing this cruel practice?

TV vet Mark Abraham launched the Where’s Mum campaign in 2012 which has vital information for owners. The BVA and Kennel Club highlight the issue as one of extreme importance to the veterinary profession.

Safepets UK have posted an emotive piece on what life is actually like for dogs in puppy farms:
‘Most people have heard something about puppy farming. They hear the campaigns, they see the secret filming, they look at the picture, yet farms are more prevalent today than ever because people still buy the puppies.’
